Why is my water milky or cloudy?

Milky or cloudy water is the result of air being trapped in the system, usually this happens after a water main break.  Air always seeks the highest point in an area and can be specific to a home which is at the highest elevation in the area of the break.  The operation's staff makes its best effort to remove any trapped air by use of a hydrant after a main break repair.  If you do have air trapped in your water, it may require flushing from the highest point in your home and will usually dissipate with time.
