Summer Water Management Program

Expired October 15th 2022

To Chelmsford Residents:

Once we officially hit summer weather, we would like to remind to our customers to please observe our Summer Water Management Program. This program has been put in place to optimize usage during the warm weather. We need to keep the tanks full so that we can supply potable water and fire protection. The program has expired for the year on October 15th 2022 and will restart on May 1st 2023. It is expected to restart at Level 1 at time but will be dependent on the weather and state determinations at that time.

Level 1 Water Restrictions allows for watering on odd/even days based on the address number and is from either 6-9 AM or 6-9 PM, not both. Please view our Water Restriction Levels page for more details.

The Chelmsford Water District is limited to what we can pump out of the ground by our withdrawal permits issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. If we over pump we are penalized by the state. The Commonwealth also mandates that we have a Summer Water Management Plan in place.  Read more about MA's Water Management Act Program here.

We appreciate your cooperation in conserving this precious resource.
